One of the most popular adornments in the ancient world, a bracelet is a piece of jewelry that is worn around the wrist. The history of bracelets and their association to mysticism is an interesting lore. Different cultures across the world had different mystic associations to bracelets. Indian women wore bracelets in marriage and associated it symbolically to being married; in Rome, the most popular form of the bracelet consisted of coiled rings with snakehead ends, symbolic of the youthful forces of life. As per some jewelry experts and historians the female bracelet evolved from male warrior rings, related not only to the protection of the hand. And from there it further evolved into a major fashion accessory.

Most women look forward to Fall fashion trends. Whether it’s the high platform boots, classic trench coats, or dying your hair a dark color, fall fashion is always fun to play around with. One of the popular looks for this fall are dressy jumpsuits. As seen above, the jumpsuits are paired with nice heels and simple accessories. Many celebrities have been spotted rocking jumpsuits since the beginning of fall. They are comfortable, classy, and easy! When wearing jumpsuits, there is no need to over do it with big necklaces and over exaggerated earrings. Jumpsuits were made to steal your entire look so you want to keep everything else simple. I would suggest a pair of diamond studs. They are sophisticated and sparkling, however they aren’t stealing the shine.

Everyone on twitter was invited to join the conversation by using the hashtag #EmmyJewelry last night; it made the evening so much more enjoyable than it would be if you were watching alone. In general, simplicity seemed to have ruled the red carpet this year. With a few exceptions, the jewelry was really toned down this year, including 2011 Emmy host Jane Lynch. There must have been a memo sent out to wear red as several stars were dressed in a shade of red. Popular for jewelry seemed to be diamonds, a few sapphires, rubies, and some hanging statement earrings but in general not many specific trends. However, Sofia Vergara in some large Columbian emerald earrings rocked the red carpet and sent live tweeters into the frenzy everyone had been waiting for. As did her ‘Modern Family’ stepdaughter Julie Bowen in slim and sparkly pendant earrings. Jewelry journalists, bloggers, publicists, designers and junkies alike were on the same page about the lack of luster in terms of #EmmyJewelry.

If you were in New York City Thursday night and didn’t get to check out what was going on, you totally missed out! Lucky for you, we’ve got a full recap on the best of Fashion’s Night Out for the jewelry world! As Mercedes Benz Fashion Week approaches, Fashion’s Night Out is a mere appetizer for what’s to come. Typically, a number of jewelry stores participate in the night’s festivities offering special deals, cocktails and even in some cases celebrity appearances! No matter where you went, you were taken care of… and if you didn’t have a good time, the jewelry store did something wrong! Ranking of the top 5 places to attend include Jack Vartanian (996 Madison Ave), Greenwich Jewelers (64 Trinity Place) Swarovski (Rockefeller Center) Mikimoto (730 Fifth Avenue) and last but definitely not least, Me & Ro (241 Elizabeth St.)

All of those top five stores showed their exquisite collections, one-of-a-kind pieces and offered a variety of other fun activities in high spirits of FNO. Jack Vartanian, offered champagne and Brazilian chocolates along side their jewels. Greenwich Jewelers shared food, drinks, exclusive pieces and allowed customers to play around and create their own designs. Although limited, early birds got free gift bags! Swarovski boasted of the appearance of celebrity stylist and host of E!’s Fashion Police, George Kotsiopoulous, who offered mini makeovers at their event. Mikimoto, famous for their pearls, offered a special edition pendant (Japan Relief Pendant) made with 7.5 cultured Akova pearls in a red enamel and sterling silver disc. Naturally, all proceeds were donated to the Japanese Red Cross. Finally, Me $ Ro supplied live music by Eliza Callahan Fly Baby and Allister Parker along side their line and cocktails. It was definitely a party there!

Fashion’s Night Out was a great taste of what to expect for the upcoming Fashion Week!
